Mercedes-Benz needed to fit out some new facilities in the outskirts of the city, with this project involving the full remodelling of two independent 800m² industrial units.

The starting point was taking some outdated facilities and adapting them for the purposes of becoming a showroom and repair workshop for Mercedes-Benz vehicles – while meeting the exacting standards the brand demands. The project threw up many technical problems which needed resolving from the very beginning, given that the distribution of the units’ interiors, as well as their finishings and even their outer façades, were totally different to the standards currently demanded by the brand. For that reason, a wholesale reform was required in terms of the set-up of both the interior and exterior. The most complex problem involved linking two units that had previously been independent, while for the area designated for workshop use the different types of industrial machinery to be used – and their dimensions and characteristics – also needed to be taken into consideration. A flow pathway for the mechanics’ use was incorporated in order to establish a direct route between the workshop’s working areas and the spare-parts storage area and the break areas, with this pathway not visible to customers and also improving the functionality of the vehicle-repair workflow. In terms of the showfloor area, the idea is for it to be clear and brightly lit. A further direct pathway will also be created between the workshop and the showfloor, to encourage those clients having repair work done on their vehicles to also browse the sales area.
